Rotary Youth Exchange provides thousands of young people with the opportunity to meet people from other lands and to experience their cultures. This plants the seeds for a lifetime of international understanding. The South Central Rotary Youth Exchange (S.C.R.Y.E.) serves the south central states of New Mexico, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee. Each year, the hundreds of SCRYE students gather together in Tulsa for a weekend winter conference. During this time, members of the Rotary Club of Bixby assist other regional clubs in hosting and entertaining the students. We're also proud to have hosted our first full-time exchange student this year, Jenny Valderama. Jenny is from Columbia and has been attending Bixby High School. She gave an interesting introduction to her country and an overview of her experiences here during our club meeting on April 4. Many thanks to club members Dennis Loudermilk, Mike Gately, and their families for hosting Jenny this year. |
