|  | | Annual BBQ festival format changed to BBQ 'n Music to appeal to a wider audience. Profits from the festival go to support community and international humanitarian service projects. | $65,000 was donated toward the following groups or projects:
- The Daily YMCA
- Bixby Community Outreach Center
- Water wells in Nicaragua
- Medical supplies in developing countries
- School/youth programs
- Parks improvements
- Miscellaneous grants
| | 3rd Grade Dictionary Project – as a way of developing literacy at a critical age, each 3rd grader in the Bixby school system and surrounding schools is given a dictionary for their personal use. | | Scholarships – $8000 in scholarships granted. | | Rotary Youth Leadership Academy – sponsorship of 4 high school students. | | Outbound exchange student – sponsorship of 1 student in Chile. | | Inbound exchange student – sponsorship of 1 student from Germany. | | Choices – we initiated and taught a program aimed at helping 8th graders make choices that will positively impact them for the rest of their lives. | | Rotary Interact – Initiated an Interact club within the high school. In this club, students will learn how to operate their own Rotary club within the high school. | | Shop With A Cop – a program aimed at helping disadvantaged or at-risk youth develop a positive impression of our local police force. In this program, children from over 55 families were paired up with a local police officer and were allowed to shop for Christmas presents for their family members. Our club donated over $5000 toward the cost of these presents. | | Shoes for Orphan Souls – Purchased over 800 pairs of shoes to be given to orphans in foreign countries. | | Coins for Kids – a program that allowed up to $5000 to be matched by MidFirst Bank to help sustain our ongoing programs for kids. | | A Long Range International Planning Committee was formed for the purpose of identifying and implementing ongoing and expanding opportunities for our local club's humanitarian service projects abroad. | | One of those projects includes providing eye glass kits to third world countries. Enthusiastic Rotarians and Rotary representatives delivered eye glass kits to 4 countries, providing them with the ability to make 316 pair of glasses per kit for their communities. Future plans include setting up microenterprises within selected countries. |
